Community responses to cannabis legalization in Canada

May 2021

Views on cannabis use are not uniform—gathering perspectives from members of diverse communities helps us to better engage with and provide service to communities.

This video summarizes research done by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health on how cannabis legalization is viewed by members of racialized communities. Through focus groups and interviews, researchers organized discussions on government-community consultations, different understandings of cannabis use, the impacts of legalization on racialized communities, and how best to reduce potential harms that stem from such impacts.
